Brandi Chastain is one of the most accomplished stars in the history of US women’s national soccer. Her championship-clinching penalty kick against China in the 1999 Women’s World Cup final, and joyously uninhibited jersey-waving celebration, brought her team and sport into the international spotlight.

Brandi was instrumental in forming the Women’s United Soccer Association, and led the San Jose CyberRays to the inaugural league title in 2001. She has played in three Olympics and four World Cups, and has two gold medals and two world titles to her credit.

Author of the book, It’s Not About the Bra, she has appeared on the covers of Time Magazine, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated, and has fought tirelessly for the rights of female athletes and the need for opportunities in sports for girls.

Brandi graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in Television and Communications. She lives in San Jose with her husband, Santa Clara women’s soccer coach Jerry Smith, and stepson Cameron.
