Running Club Challenge

The fifth annual Sports Basement Club Challenge is on! Prize packages will be awarded this year in four categories: Speed - Overall, Speed - Women's, Size, and Spirit.

Entry: For a Club to qualify for the Challenge, at least 10 runners must sign-up for any combination of the Dean Karnazes Silicon Valley Marathon, Half-Marathon, and the 5K Run/Walk.

Simply enter the race as usual, but make sure to list your team name as your affiliation. All club members receive a
10% discount (use code: cc10)on event entry fees. Clubs are welcome to compete in all categories and will be identified throughout race day in rotating PA announcements.
Speed - Overall:
To qualify, at least three runners from each club must enter the Half-Marathon race. The times of the fastest three Half-Marathon runners from each Club, regardless of gender, will be added, and the team with the lowest cumulative total will be declared the
"Fastest Club in Silicon Valley!"
Size:
Which Club has the biggest team presence? The Club entering the most runners in the Challenge (total combined participants in the Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 5K Run/Walk) will receive a team prize.
Speed - Women's Division:
To qualify in this category, at least three women from a Club must enter the Half-Marathon race. The times of the fastest three Half-Marathon runners from each Club will be added, and the team with the lowest cumulative total will be declared the "Fastest Women's Club in Silicon Valley!"
Spirit:
Break out that Halloween costume early! The club demonstrating the best combination of creative costumes and overall spirit and enthusiasm will be awarded a team prize.
Important reminder: Don't forget to list your affiliation on your entry! We can't enter you in the Challenge unless your name is connected to your team in the database!
